Horbury Scout Hut, Horbury

Flood Resistant Riverside Scout Group Hall

Approached by the 8th Wakefield Scout Group of Horbury Bridge, Architecture 1B developed state-of-the-art replacement Scout group hall facilities, on a floodplain site directly adjacent to the river Calder.

The constrained site with tree cover and the known risk of flooding, along with a restricted budget largely funded by grants and donations from local charities, groups and individuals, resulted in an interesting architectural response and a robust building that is suited to the adventurous, challenging & educational activities that are to take place there. The new building now provides a fantastic resource for both the Scouts and the community.
